Princeton couple and dog killed in home explosion, Mille Lacs County sheriff says

MILACA, Minn. — Two Princeton residents were found dead Tuesday after an early morning explosion at their home in central Minnesota’s Mille Lacs County.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a possible explosion at 3:54 a.m. on the 8200 block of 52nd Street, north of Princeton. According to the report, deputies located a large debris field from an explosion that was still on fire at the time.

After the fire was extinguished, first responders located two victims, Royce Edward Kreger Jr., 60, and Katherine Ann Kreger, 61. A family dog was also found dead in the debris.

The Kregers, who lived at the residence, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office to determine the cause of the explosion.
