Red Sox lineup: Roman Anthony playing with big league club again vs. Tigers
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Top Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony is back in the big league lineup, as the 19-year-old outfielder is set to start in center field and bat eighth against the Detroit Tigers.
Anthony will be joined by most of Boston’s big league regulars, including Tyler O’Neill, Rafael Devers, Trevor Story and Rob Refsnyder. Catcher Connor Wong is also back in the lineup, though still as a designated hitter as he continues to work his way back from elbow soreness. Enmanuel Valdez will play second and bat fourth, Roberto Pérez will be behind the plate batting seventh, and first base prospect Niko Kavadas will bat ninth.
Garrett Whitlock is slated to start his second game of the spring, and he’ll be followed out of the bullpen by Cooper Criswell, Lucas Luetge, Chase Shugart and Andrew Politi. Reese Olson is scheduled to start for Detroit.
