Man struck and killed by a motorist in Burnsville Saturday night

Authorities say a man was struck and killed by a motorist Saturday night.

At about 8:45 p.m. a man walking near the eastbound lane of County Road 42 and 145th street was struck by a motorist, according to the West St. Paul Police Department.

Because of the three first responders killed last week, all of Burnsville’s public safety duties are being shared by numerous Dakota County agencies.

Investigators say the driver is cooperating with police and was not impaired at the time of the crash.

The Hastings Police Department is investigating the fatality with collision reconstruction assistance from state patrol. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office will release the identify of the man at a later date.
