BOYS HOCKEY

Kyle Gray netted two goals and Jake Ryan scored his first as Shawsheen toppled Haverhill 7-3 in a nonleague matchup.

In the Northeastern Conference, Luke Githinji finished with four goals and an assist as Winthrop rolled to a 13-2 victory over Pebody/Saugus.

Domenic Visocchi, Chris Ryan, and Alex Ethier scored in the third period to give Whitman-Hanson a 4-2 win over Plymouth South in the Patriot League.

Jack Doherty notched the game-winner in overtime as St. John’s Prep (16-3) defeated St. John’s (Shrewsbury) 4-3 in the Catholic Conference.

 

GIRLS HOCKEY

Isabella Batista and Meghan Costa each tallied a goal and an assist as Bishop Stang topped Bishop Fenwick, 5-0, in the Catholic Central League.

In nonleague action, Mary Stronach and Ava Iantosca each scored twice as Dedham (13-3-2) downed Walpole 6-2. … Allie Condon had three goals and an assist as Hanover defeated Stoughton, 8-2. … Ivorie Arguin scored twice as Pope Francis (12-6-2) and Malden Catholic played to a 2-2 tie.

Senior Addison Walsh scored with 11.9 seconds left to Winchester over Reading 3-2 in a Middlesex League tilt.

Jen Birolini scored the game-winner in overtime as Pembroke defeated Whitman-Hanson 5-4 to capture its fourth straight Patriot League title.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

In the Spartan Classic opening round, Jake Fortier scored 16 points and JJ Martinez added 14 points as St. Mary’s of Lynn (14-7) won 51-36 over Lynn Classical. … Hunter Matteson scored 20 points as Dartmouth defeated Springfield Central, 60-51.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

In the opening round of the Spartan Classic, Sarah Chenette had 32 points and 16 rebounds as Cohasset defeated Dracut, 65-45.

Marcella Bonfardeci scored 15 points as Malden Catholic (10-8) qualified for the state tournament with a 48-36 win over Burlington.

Jaylen Thomas scored 24 points as New Heights (13-0) defeated Roxbury Prep 71-47 to capture the MSCAO title.
