Brooks Lee, David Festa among Twins’ non-roster invites to spring training
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Top prospects Brooks Lee and David Festa are among the non-roster players whom the Twins announced Tuesday will be in major league camp this spring.
Festa, the organization’s top pitching prospect, is one of nine pitchers who will join the big-league group when pitchers and catchers have their first workout on Wednesday. Others include Jordan Balazovic and Daniel Duarte, both of whom were designated for assignment in recent days and have cleared waivers. Jovani Moran, Randy Dobnak, Ronny Henriquez, Ryan Jensen, Jeff Brigham and Matt Bowman round out the group.
Lee, drafted by the Twins eighth overall in 2022, will be joined by fellow infielders Michael Helman, Anthony Prato and Aaron Sabato, another a former first-round pick in camp. Outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. and utilityman Niko Goodrum also will be in camp, along with four non-roster catchers — Alex Isola, Brian O’Keefe, Chris Williams and Pat Winkel.
Bubba Thompson, an outfielder the Twins claimed off waivers in late January and designated for assignment last week, will not be among the group. He was claimed on Tuesday off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds.
While workouts for pitchers and catchers get underway Wednesday, position players must report by Saturday with the first full-squad workout set for Sunday.
