2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Gets Starting Price of $34,995 ($27K/w Tax Credit), 319 Mile Range
Chevrolet has uncovered the anticipated details of the 2024 Equinox EV for pricing and range, signaling a potential game-changer in the electric crossover market. With a starting price of $34,995 for the base 1LT FWD trim, which includes destination charges, the Equinox EV appears to offer remarkable value. Despite a slight increase of around $5,000 from initial estimates, Chevrolet promises significant savings through a full $7,500 Clean Vehicle Federal Tax Credit, effectively bringing the starting price down to $27,495.
What sets the Equinox EV apart is its eligibility for the full tax credit, a rarity among electric vehicles. Even the most affordable EVs, like the Nissan Leaf, don’t qualify for the full amount. Close contenders such as the VW ID.4 and Tesla Model Y fall significantly higher in price.
While the base model may not be immediately available, prospective buyers can anticipate its release later in 2024. However, price isn’t the sole consideration; performance is paramount. Impressively, the Equinox EV FWD boasts an EPA-certified range of 319 miles, outstripping competitors like the Tesla Model Y.
Additional trim options offer varying features and prices, with the Equinox EV 2LT FWD starting at $43,295 and the 3RS FWD topping out at $46,795. AWD versions, promising 285 miles on a charge, are also in the works, elevating power and performance.
Chevrolet also emphasizes the Equinox EV’s technological prowess, boasting the largest infotainment screen in its segment at 17.7 inches. However, the switch to a Google operating system means bidding farewell to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, replaced instead by native Google Maps and app support.
This announcement is significant for General Motors, signaling a return to affordable EVs following the discontinuation of the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV. With the Equinox EV, Chevrolet aims to cater to the growing demand for accessible electric vehicles, solidifying its position as a frontrunner in the market.
