Cyprus January 2024: Kia Sportage in the lead in soaring market
The Kia Sportage is the best-selling vehicle in Cyprus in January.
Based on data by our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, the Cyprus new car market soars 19.8% year-on-year in January to 1,527 sales. The top 3 brands all lodge surreal gains: Kia (+87.6%) is #1 with 19.8% share vs. 17.6% over the Full Year 2023, Volkswagen is up 86.9% year-on-year and 8 spots on last month to #2 and Toyota (+45.5%) rounds out the podium. Leader a year ago, BMW (-35.2%) is in freefall to #4. Ford (+117.1%), Skoda (+100%), Jeep (+80%) and Mercedes (+25.5%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Kia Sportage (+126.7%) takes the lead, followed by the VW T-Cross (+966.7%). 6 of the Top 7 models are SUVs, with the Toyota Yaris (+1.2%) the odd one at #4. The Kia Stonic (+124.3%) rallies back up to #3 ,the Nissan Qashqai (+85.4%), leader last month, is 5th ahead of the VW T-Roc (-20%) and Toyota C-HR (+226.7%). The Ford Focus sports a uncharacteristic 8th place with the Jeep Compass (#22) and Range Rover Sport (#23) making what is believed to be their entrance inside the Top 30.
