Iceland January 2024: Dacia Duster and Sandero top market off -37.5%

The Dacia Duster ranks #1 in Iceland in January.

New car sales in Iceland sink -37.5% year-on-year in January to just 457 units. Toyota (-42.6%) falls even faster than the market but easily tops the brands charts with 17.7% share, in line with its FY23 level (17.1%). Dacia (+96.3%) and Land Rover (+45.8%) completely ignore the surrounding gloom with sensational year-on-year gains and complete the podium. Nissan (+212.5%), BMW (+15.4%) and Mercedes (+10%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10.

Dacia monopolises the Top 2 models with the Duster and Sandero each selling 26 units. The Toyota Prado and RAV4 are equal #3 with 22 sales each, with the Range Rover Sport rounding out the Top 5. Notice also the Smart #1 at #8, the Mercedes EQC at #11 and the Nissan Ariya at #15.
