Inmate dies after being found unresponsive at federal women’s prison in Waseca
A 29-year-old woman has died while incarcerated in the federal women’s prison in Waseca, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The death of Jessica Wallowingbull was the second within a year reported at FCI Waseca, a low-security facility that houses about 800 female offenders.
Wallowingbull was found unresponsive at about 6:18 p.m. Sunday, according to a Bureau of Prisons news release. Lifesaving measures were initiated by staff but failed.
She was subsequently pronounced deceased by EMS personnel when they arrived.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified.
Wallowingbull had been in custody at the prison since Feb. 15, 2023, after being sentenced in the District of Wyoming to a 45-month sentence for an assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
In May, the Federal Bureau of Prisons reported the death of 36-year-old Starsha Silva while imprisoned at FCI Waseca.
Authorities have not released information about the causes of death for either woman.
