Boys basketball

In Cape Ann League boys basketball action, Cade Furse dropped 20 points as undefeated Manchester-Essex (14-0) cruised to a 71-43 victory over Rockport.

Ben Torndorff netted 15 points and Tyrin MacDonald added 14 as South Shore Voke (4-11) won 53-45 over Cape Cod Tech.

Carson Gretz netted 22 points as Newburyport (13-2) rolled over Triton 69-49.

Rolky Brea Arias’ double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds paired with DJ Reynolds’ 18 points to power Lynn Classical (7-5) to a 69-58 Greater Boston League win over Somerville. … Kyle Kemembin dialed up 21 points and 14 rebounds, Denzell Guillen added 16 points with six rebounds, and Pierre Veras posted 12 points with six rebounds as Lynn English (12-3) routed Chelsea 76-37.

Girls basketball

In Cape Ann League action, sophomore Ameila Crowe scored 13 points and senior Ava DiBurro added 11 as Pentucket cruised to a 59-19 win over Essex Tech. … Freshman Grace Harres had a game-high 15 while Gaby Campbell and Sasha Makogonov chipped in with 11 and 10 respectively as Hamilton-Wenham topped Ipswich 45-38. … Bella Cannalonga (15 points), Juliet Wasilewski (11 points) and Caitlin Reilly (11 points) all scored in double figures to lead North Reading (10-5) over Lynnfield, 65-31.

senior Lauren Wilson scored 12 points to lead Lynn Classical (11-2) to a 39-17 victory over Somerville in Greater Boston League action.

Chloe O’Brien’s 13 points was a team-high as Malden Catholic (8-7) defeated Fontbonne, 50-43, in nonleague play. … Mary Kate Flynn notched a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double for Hanover (9-3) to fuel a 37-27 win over Falmouth. … Offense erupted for Sandwich (13-1) juniors in a 75-60 win over Somerset Berkley, led by Avery Cobban (21 points), Maddie Lawrence (19 points, nine rebounds) and Aubrie Schwager (17 points, six rebounds).

In a Mayflower League game, Ally Johnson recorded 23 points to boost Blue Hills (10-3) past Diman, 38-37.

Boys hockey

Logan Poulin found the back of the net as the first of four different goal-scorers, helping Nauset (12-1-1) stay hot with a 4-0 Cape and Islands League win over Martha’s Vineyard.

Chase Darcey cracked the 100-point plateau with a goal and two assists, leading Shawsheen to an 8-1 win over Commonwealth Athletic Conference foe Northeast.

Class notes

Canton High named Kelly McGowan as its new girls varsity lacrosse coach, taking over for Casey Bradley, who left to take the coaching position at Framingham State. A CHS graduate and member of the school’s Hall of Fame, McGowan served as an assistant girls lacrosse coach in 2016 and 2017.
