Girl, 15, accused of stabbing another student at Dorchester high school ordered held in jail
The 15-year-old girl accused of stabbing a 14-year-old schoolmate at Dorchester’s Burke High School earlier this week will remain in custody after having her bail revoked in a separate case.
“On top of the serious injuries suffered by the victim, this incident presents tremendous sadness because of its dramatic impact on such young lives, both the victim’s and the defendant’s,” Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a statement. “We see, once again, the terrible consequences of impulsive decisions and dangerous actions.”
The incident occurred a little before 11 a.m. Tuesday within Dorchester’s Jeremiah Burke High School, the Herald reported. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at an area hospital.
The suspect, who is not named in a DA statement because she is a minor, appeared in Dorchester Juvenile Court Wednesday where she pleaded not guilty to charges of one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. She was ordered held in lieu of $500 bail, though that doesn’t matter because the judge revoked her bail from an unrelated case in which she is charged with resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer so she will remain in custody.
The girl is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 21.
