FBI Director Kash Patel Hacked by Iran-Linked Group
By Jacki Thrapp
FBI Director Kash Patel’s personal email inbox was accessed by Iran-based hackers.
“The FBI is aware of malicious actors targeting Director Patel’s personal email information, and we have taken all necessary steps to mitigate potential risks associated with this activity,” the FBI confirmed in a statement to The Epoch Times on March 27.
The data that was stolen did not contain any government information, according to the FBI.
“The Department of State’s Rewards for Justice program offers up to a $10 million reward for information leading to the identification of the Handala Hack Team out of Iran – a group that has frequently targeted U.S. government officials,” the FBI’s statement added.
Handala Hack Team wrote on its website that Patel “will now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims.”
Reuters contributed to this report.
