Lucas: Trump has driven Democrats over the edge
President Donald Trump is going to make the people Greenland healthy again, whether they like it or not.
But first he must deal with Iran.
Meanwhile, he is planning to send one of the country’s U.S. Navy hospital ships to Greenland to make everybody healthy even though nobody asked for it.
Well, almost nobody.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Jergen Boassen, 52, a Greenland bricklayer and supporter of Trump, asked for it. Boassen helped organize Donald Trump Jr.’s prior visit to the island coveted by the president.
Boassen brought the matter of Greenland’s “deteriorating” health care system up with Republican Gov. Jeff Landry of Louisiana, who is Trump’s Greenland envoy.
Landry mentioned it to Trump, who has eyes on Greenland, and Trump said that help for the people “was on the way,” even though Greenland and Denmark said that Greenland does not want or need any help.
Trump said, “We are going to send a great hospital boat to Greenland to take care of the many people who are sick and not being taken care of there. “It’s on the way.”
To which Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielson said, “No thanks. It’s no thank you from here.”
The U.S. Navy has two well manned hospital ships, the USS Comfort and the USS Mercy, both of which have been deployed dealing with medical fallout from the COVID 19 outbreak in New York, the invasion of Iraq, hurricanes in the Caribbean and medical emergencies in South America and so on.
Greenlanders have free universal health care, such as it is, but people often have difficulty gaining access to it given the island’s vast size and rugged geography. The care from a US hospital ship would be free as well.
Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. It runs its own internal affairs, but Denmark controls its foreign policy.
It has only 56,000 inhabitants living on the vast and icy expanse, many of whom live in remote parts of the island and could have psychological as well as medical issues.
But if Trump really wanted to help people with mental problems, he would launch one of those hospital ships, staffed with psychologists, up the Potomac River to Washington D.C.
There cannot be anyone in Greenland in need of psychological help more than the half-crazed Democrats in Congress.
Given their response to his speech to Congress Tuesday night, it’s clear that Trump has driven the left over the edge.
The president has shown that the Democrat Party is so wrong and rude on so many issues that it has lost it its way. It’s as though its half-crazed, out of touch leaders were living in a remote fishing shack in an unnamed icy inlet in Greenland.
It is not their fault, though. That is because it is Trump who has driven them crazy.
A hospital ship in Washington could treat Democrats who have sunken so low that they are reduced to only two words, (*&%#$ Trump”) when talking about the president.
Trump has turned their brains to mush.
But Trump, who was tormented so much by the Democrats during his first term and especially when he was out of power, is enjoying baiting the left too much to bail them out.
A good example of that, during his speech, was on illegal immigration when he taunted the Democrats by asking if they agreed that “The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
While Trump got a standing ovation from the Republicans and others in the House chamber, none of the Democrats stood up. None, zero, nada.
“Isn’t that a shame?” he said. “You should be ashamed.”
But they weren’t. He called them crazy, which they are.
And that is why they need help, whether they like it or not.
