US, Israel Strike Iran
By Sam Dorman
President Donald Trump released a video on Feb. 28 stating that the United States had begun “major combat operations” in Iran with the goal of eliminating threats from the country’s regime.
“Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world,” he said in the video, posted on Truth Social.
“For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted ‘Death to America’ and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder targeting the United States, our troops and the innocent people in many, many countries.”

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Feb. 28 that the Israeli military carried out a strike against Iran.
“The State of Israel launched a pre-emptive attack against Iran to remove threats to the State of Israel,” Katz said.
Sirens went off across Israel on Feb. 28, and cellphone alerts instructed residents to stay within proximity to protected places, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
“This is a proactive alert to prepare the public for the possibility of missiles being launched toward the State of Israel,” the IDF stated in a post on X.
