Boston Police Blotter: Fists fly at Fenway’s House of Blues
Some people just can’t take no for an answer, and a Friday night would-be attendee of a 2000s-themed music event at Fenway’s House of Blues is one of them.
Boston Police arrested a man, whose identity is redacted in the police report the Herald received, for allegedly punching a female House of Blues employee in the face.
She and another employee told police that they had denied the man entry, though the reason is not stated in the report. Then, they said, the assailant called the male employee a rude name and shoved him before then stepping over and punching the female employee in the face. Police say she suffered a swollen, broken nose but had not fallen over or lost consciousness.
The arrested man told police that he had “maybe a couple shots” before this all went down, but denied assaulting anyone and instead said that when he asked why he was denied entry the security team just shoved him to the ground.
Cybersecurity grant
Gov. Maura Healey announced that the commonwealth was granted $329,584 in federal funds to support cybersecurity incident response planning and exercises for state agencies.
“Securing our infrastructure is critical to our ability to defend against cyberattacks,” said Governor Maura Healey. “As threats continue to evolve, we will work to ensure that state agencies and local governments have access to tools and resources to strengthen their cybersecurity.”
The federal funds will be administered to state agencies by the state Cybersecurity Planning Committee chaired by state Chief Information Officer and Technology Services and Security Secretary Jason Snyder.
The statement included a chart of 11 organizations across the state getting awarded funds. Topping those is the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, which each received $40,000. The remainder is split by other state- and county-level agencies as well as colleges and universities.
Incident Summary
BPD responded to 253 incidents in the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the department’s incident log. Those included two robberies, five aggravated assaults, one theft from a vehicle, one stolen vehicle, and 21 instances of miscellaneous larceny.
