Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify in the Republican-led House Oversight Committee’s probe into Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking network, dodging a looming contempt of Congress vote just in time. This surprising U-turn came on Monday, 2 February, 2026, after months of subpoenas, sworn declarations, and rising threats from Chair James Comer.

The committee subpoenaed the Clintons last August alongside ex-AGs like Loretta Lynch and FBI directors, seeking insights on Epstein. They submitted affidavits claiming no relevant information, but skipped in-person depositions, calling probes politically motivated to save Trump. Comer blasted their New York office offer as “unreasonable” and advanced contempt resolutions, 34-8 for Bill and 28-15 for Hillary. 

House Rules prepped a floor vote this week, but Clinton spokesperson Angel Ureña announced compliance via a post on X, “They negotiated in good faith. You did not. They testified under oath about what they know, but that seems irrelevant to you. Nevertheless, the former President and former Secretary of State will attend. They look forward to establishing a precedent that should be applicable to all.”

Comer said he is “reconsidering” contempt after the Clintons pledged closed-door depositions. A bipartisan subpoena existed, but Democrats aided Republicans on the US Department of Justice probes. The Clintons vowed to fight if pushed, “In every individual’s life, there comes a moment when they must determine if they have had enough… For us, that moment is now.”

Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 jailhouse death was ruled a suicide amid broken cameras and guard lapses. This left several unanswered questions about his elite network of politicians, celebrities, and royals (the big names of the world!), accused of child sex trafficking. Flight logs show Bill Clinton on the “Lolita Express” 26 times, per released documents, though he denies any island visits or wrongdoings. Hillary’s mentions tie to political angles. Donald Trump, a past Epstein pal, banned him from Mar-a-Lago but faces scrutiny over Alexander Acosta’s 2008 controversial plea deal. 

The overall drama underscores polarized Washington, Epstein’s dirty tentacles touch all sides, yet truth slips away, and justice for Epstein Island victims in Comer’s own term is, “…continue to delay, delay, delay.”
