China new models December 2025: Ora 5 and Geely Galaxy V900 arrive

Now that December and Full Year 2025 data has been studied, let’s focus on the latest launches on the Chinese market. This month is relatively quiet we have just 4 models hitting the charts, all Chinese. To fully understand the scope of the Chinese market, make sure you consult our Exclusive Guide to all 190 active Chinese Brands.

1. Ora 5 New Energy (3,815 sales)

Ora, a brand by GWM, is in dire need of fresh metal as the brand’s sales fell -31.3% in 2025 to 33,931 units. The 5 New Energy is Ora’s first new model in 3 years! Originally a brand dedicated to BEVs, Ora was relaunched last December and will now offer PHEVs, HEVs and ICE vehicles. This is a striking development in the All-BEV Chinese market. An illustration is this new 5, which is launched as a BEV but will later have PHEV, HEV and ICE variant. The Ora 5 is a compact crossover at 4471mm long, 1833 mm wide and 1641mm tall with a 2720mm wheelbase. In its looks, it resembles the brand’s Funky Cat model with its round headlights but is bigger.

The model runs on a 201 hp electric motor and is offered with two battery options— a 45.3 kWh pack (480 km CLTC range) and a 58.3 kWh pack (580 km CLTC range) — both supplied by GWM’s SVOLT subsidiary. Inside, it features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster running GWM’s Coffee OS 3 infotainment system with voice interaction, while higher trims offer optional LiDAR for advanced driver assistance. The Ora 5 is priced from 91,800 to 125,800 yuan (11,100-15,200€ or US$13,200-18,100). Note the launch price was 99,800 yuan so we are already looking at a 8% discount: the Chinese price war is alive and kicking! The 5 will compete with the likes of the Leapmotor Lafa5 (97,800-121,800 yuan), MG 4 (68,800-102,800 yuan) and Nevo Q05 (79,900-109,900 yuan). The launch volume is already satisfying.

2. Dongfeng Forthing Xinghai T5 (2,495 sales)

Dongfeng’s Forthing sub-brand already has a model called T5 and another one called T5 Evo which has been met with success overseas, notably in Panama in 2024. Not much information has trickled down on this new model which is meant to help boost lagging Dongfeng sales (-20.5% in 2025). This is a compact BEV SUV with 530 km range available in four trims that share the same battery pack and a charging time of 35 mins.

The interior features the mandatory large central touch screen but still has some physical buttons below it. Priced from 153,900 to 161,900 yuan (18,600-19,600€ or US$22,100-23,300), it will compete with the likes of the Skyworth EV6 (from 98,800 yuan) and the Dongfeng Forthing’s own Xinghai X5 (151,900-169,900 yuan). Its launch volume already places it as the Forthing sub-brand’s best-seller which is an encouraging feat. We’d want double that to really consider the T5 a success.

3. Wuling Xingguan 560 (1,205 sales)

Wuling continues to add models to its Xingguan (Starlight) series after the 730 hit dealerships last month. Interestingly, Wuling is reusing the names of previous successful SUV from sister brand Baojun. The 560 is a mid-size SUV offered  with multiple powertrain options — gasoline, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and pure electric (EV) — and can be configured as either a five-seater or seven-seater, giving buyers flexibility in both propulsion and seating for family or daily-use needs. The Xingguang 560 is 4745mm long 1850mm wide, 1770mm high with a wheelbase of 2810mm.

The interior features a 12.8-inch infotainment screen running Wuling’s Ling OS and soft-touch materials throughout the cabin. The powertrain choices include a 1.5T gasoline engine delivering 130 kW (174 hp) with manual or CVT transmissions, a PHEV with 125 km CLTC electric range and up to 1,100 km total range, and a pure EV variant with a 60 kWh battery and 500 km CLTC range, with fast charging capable of adding roughly 200 km in about 15 minutes. As all Wuling models before it, the 560 is priced impossibly low: from 58,800 to 98,800 yuan (7,100-12,000€ or US$8,500-14,200). Wuling models tend to sell well at home and the 730 has totalled almost 20,000 units in two months. We are hoping for a similar score for the 560.

4. Geely Galaxy V900 (243 sales)

The V900 is the 10th model under the hugely successful Galaxy NEV line and also its first MPV. This is a id-to-large seven-seater extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). The V900 uses a 1.5-litre turbo engine as a range extender combined with dual electric motors to produce up to 340 kW (456 hp) and 523 Nm, enabling powerful performance for a large family MPV. It offers a pure electric CLTC range of around 260 km paired with a combined range of approximately 1,220 km when fully fuelled and charged, balancing daily electric-only use with long-distance flexibility.

Inside, we find a 15.4-inch central infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch instrument panel, and 19.8-inch augmented reality head up display. The second row has a 17.3-inch entertainment screen and a 5.98-inch function control screen in the arm rest. The V900 runs on Geely’s Qianli Haohan H5 assisted driving system, including a LiDAR, 11 HD cameras and 12 ultrasonic radars. Priced from 269,800 to 329,800 yuan (32,600-39,900€ or US$38,800-47,400), the V900 will face the likes of the WEY Gaoshan (285,800-353,800 yuan), LEVC L380 (299,900-599,900 yuan), Xpeng X9 (309,800-419,800 yuan) and Voyah Dreamer (329,900-709,900 yuan).
