Boston Weather: Snow to stick around as temperatures remain well below freezing

Following the giant snow storm Sunday and Monday, Boston is in for a drier but freezing cold week, letting the snowfall stick around, according to National Weather Service forecasts.

“Next week, outside of the storm, we’re going to see a much drier condition, cold temperatures,” said NWS meteorologist Francis Tarasiewicz. “Highs each day are going to be fairly well below normal.”

The week is set to kick off mid-snowstorm on Monday, with several more inches falling through the day, according to NWS forecasts.

Monday is expected to reach a high below freezing around 30 degrees and a low in the high single digits, with wind chill values as low as negative 2. Wind is forecast to remain gusty throughout the day and night, NWS states, with gusts up to 22 mph.

On Tuesday, skies are likely to be mostly sunny, as the high drops to the low 20s and the low reaches into the single digits again, forecasts show. Temperatures are expected to remain well below average throughout the week.

“We’re looking at departures from normal of about 10 to 15 degrees or so,” said Tarasiewicz. “A cold week.”

The high will continue to hover in the low 20s Wednesday and Thursday, with sunny or mostly sunny skies throughout the day and light winds, NWS forecasts.
