Two killed, two injured in shooting at Carver child’s birthday party
Carver Police arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a shooting that killed two people and injured two others Saturday night at a child’s birthday party.
Nicholas Meuse was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, and multiple other gun charges, according to Carver Police Chief Marc Duphily and Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a children’s birthday party at Saint John the Baptist Club on Silva St. around 7:21 p.m, a statement from the DA and police chief said.
Arriving on the scene, police said four people has been shot. Benjamin Cowart, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene, and Jalen Pina, 20, died at a local hospital, according to the DA and police chief.
Two other male victims, a 28-year-old and a 32-year-old, were both transported to the hospital.
Police said they found Meuse down the street from the social club, arrested him, and brought him to the Carver Police Station.
He is expected to be arraigned at Wareham District Court.

In a statement to their Facebook page Saturday Night, Carver Police had said that the act did “not appear to be random.”
Both Carver Police and the Mass State Police are investigating.
