Four Red Sox prospects ranked inside Baseball America’s Top 100
Baseball America officially unveiled its Top 100 Prospects Rankings for 2026 on Wednesday, and four Red Sox prospects made the cut.
With the graduation of former “Big Three” mainstays Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell, Payton Tolle now stands as the top prospect in the Red Sox system. The big left-hander made a sizable jump into the top-20, coming in at No. 17 overall.

Infielder Franklin Arias (No. 49), left-hander Connelly Early (No. 52) and right-hander Kyson Witherspoon (No. 69) were the other top Red Sox prospects to rank inside the top 100.
Tolle was originally drafted in 2024 and rose all the way from High-A to the majors in his first full season of professional baseball. The 6-foot-6 lefty surged through the ranks thanks in large part to his overpowering fastball, and upon his promotion he appeared in six regular season games plus one playoff game.
Arias, 20, was a recent international free agent signing who has established himself as the top position player in the Red Sox system. He finished last season at Double-A and recently took part in the Red Sox rookie development program at Fenway Park, which aims to help prepare young players for life in the majors.
Early, like Tolle, surged through the minors last season and made a strong impression in his late-season big league cameo. The 23-year-old posted a 2.33 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 19.1 innings, and once the playoffs began Early got the start in the decisive Game 3 of the AL Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees.
Witherspoon, 21, was Boston’s first-round pick in last summer’s draft and has yet to make his professional debut. The 6-foot-2 right-hander last pitched at Oklahoma, where he posted a 2.65 ERA with 124 strikeouts in 95 innings. He was selected No. 15 overall by the Red Sox and is likely to start this upcoming season at High-A Greenville.
