Police Blotter: Cambridge man faces federal sex trafficking charge
According to the US Attorney’s Office, a Cambridge man has been charged with sex trafficking women up and down the east coast.
Daniel Rodriguez, 36, was already in state custody when the federal authorities brought a charge of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion last week.
According to an affidavit signed by FBI special agent Cam Long, Rodriguez allegedly trafficked at least four victims, including one minor, using threats of and actual violence to force them into having sex with himself and clients.
He frequently took them out of Massachusetts and and to states as far away as Florida to perform sex work, while taking all the profits, Long wrote.
In one instance, Rodriguez allegedly got into a high speed chase with police, crashed his Mercedes in Randolph, fled the scene, and left one of his victims injured in the flipped over car.
The affidavit also describes how Rodriguez tracked victims who declined to participate in his commercial sex scheme and forced one woman to continue having sex with clients while she was seven months pregnant.
Rodriguez is currently awaiting an initial appearance in federal court in Boston.

Plymouth County see 37% decrease in overdoses
Fatal overdoses decreased by more than a third last year in Plymouth County, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
In 2025, the county recorded 59 deaths from overdoses, down from 93 deaths in 2024, a nearly 37% decrease year over year.
“I am pleased to see a substantial decrease in suspected fatal overdoses across Plymouth County, but the fact remains there is always more work to do,” DA Timothy Cruz said in a statement.
Homicides were also down last year, with 12 homicides in 2025 compared to 14 homicides in 2024, the DA’s Office said. In both years, the majority of homicides occurred in Brockton.
“Our office is steadfast in its mission to hold violent offenders accountable while also helping to reduce all types of fatalities in our community through coordinated efforts with our local partners,” Cruz said.
