Shawsheen wins second consecutive Div. 5 Super Bowl with win over Foxboro
FOXBORO — Shawsheen Tech extended its dynasty and its dominance by powering past Foxboro to claim the Division 5 Super Bowl and push its undefeated streak to 27 straight games.
The Rams (12-0), who shut out Foxboro 14–0 in last year’s title game, once again showed why they have become the standard in Division 5. This time, they defeated the Warriors in the rematch, 14-7, overcoming the same program that was the last team to beat them — back in the 2024 playoffs.
Shawsheen controlled the tempo early, with two touchdown connections on their first two series of the game. The senior combination of Dyllan Pratt and quarterback Adam Caruso connected for two screen passes that went for 78 and 51 yards with Pratt doing most of the work with the yards after the catch.
The pair started the game 3-for-3 on pass-and-catch plays for 137 yards and it proved to be the difference in the game.
“We had those plays drawn up all week and that first (touchdown) we said we were going to run it first play and it feels great to score on the first play,” said Pratt. “It’s my last game, I saw the hole, I hit it, and I was gone. They weren’t catching me and I couldn’t pick a better way to go out.”
Said Caruso, “Dyllan Pratt – what a player. I can’t even explain the connection we have had all year. I never threw him a ball until this season. I can’t express how good our defense is – best defense in the state.”
Foxboro was on the board midway through the second quarter as offensive lineman Matthew O’Keefe was eligible in the backfield and plunged in for the one-yard touchdown. The score cut the deficit in half after Andrew Higgins connected on the extra point.
“I think people will look at us a little differently and certainly last yeat wasn’t a fluke. To do this back-to-back and to do it with different people after losing the senior class – that’s a tough thing to replace. This is the strongest team I’ve ever coached,” said Shawsheen head coach Al Costabile.

The third quarter produced only one series from each squad as each team ended long drives on turnovers on downs. Shawsheen got into the red zone but stalled at the Warriors’ 18-yard line and Foxboro did the same on their 11-play drive that ended the third to start the fourth quarter.

“Some of these kids have played in three of these but unfortunately it didn’t end the way we wanted,” said Foxboro head coach, Jack Martinelli, whose team has now been to three straight Super Bowls winning the chip in 2023 over Hanover. “Shawsheen is a good football team and you can’t spot them 14 points right off. We settled down but they established the run and we couldn’t stop and that makes a big difference in the game.”

Two more Banda brothers shined on the ground for Shawsheen as Jake Banda (24 for a game-high 115) and Cameron Banda combined for 151 of the 159 yards rushing in the victory.
Foxboro had one last stand with 6:13 left in the game but Hadi Sibay seemed to end things with an interception for Shawsheen at the 4:53 mark of the fourth quarter but a fumble recovery from Kolby Hassett gave the ball back to Foxboro on the first play from scrimmage.
But again Costabile’s defense stood tall in the end.

“Defense came up huge, time and time again,” said Costabile. “Especially in the fourth quarter, with the fumble. They had a short field and that’s a difficult situation for a defense. The kids showed tremendous resiliency.”
With the win, Shawsheen owns a 3-2 record in Super Bowl/MIAA championship games and extends the state’s longest active streak to 27 straight victories — all while reinforcing that the road to the Division 5 title still runs through the Rams.
