Four men wounded in St. Paul shooting now charged in wild gunfight
After four men were injured in a Monday afternoon shooting in St. Paul, prosecutors charged each of them in the case on Wednesday.
The criminal complaints describe a chaotic scene and related car crash in Dayton’s Bluff, but do not include a motive for the shootings.
All four of the men are accused of firing guns at each other and two are charged with attempted murder.
Officers responded to Twins Market & Meats at Fourth and Earl streets at 4:45 p.m. Monday on a report of a shooting.
They found Eric Kapreece Richards, 22, of St. Paul, and Shataurus Orlando Dozier, 23, of St. Louis Park, were each shot in the leg. Dozier’s brother, 22-year-old Donnavin Travont’e Dozier of Rosemount, was shot in his ankle.
Kemarion Keith Thompson, 23, of Bloomington, was shot in his arm and chest. He immediately was taken into surgery when St. Paul Fire Department medics brought him to the hospital.
Victims located
The complaints filed by the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office give the following information from police and prosecutors:
Officers found a Chrysler 200 had crashed into the Dairy Queen across the street from Twins Market & Meats.
Richards was leaning against the Dairy Queen building and officers applied a tourniquet to his leg. He didn’t answer questions about the shooting and complained about being in pain.
Thompson was lying between the curb and sidewalk across Earl Street from the Dairy Queen and kitty corner from Twins Market.
A person in the area told police there were two more gunshot victims by a nearby residence on Fourth Street, which is where officers found the Dozier brothers.
‘Quickly spun around’ and shot
Surveillance video from the market showed the Chrysler parked outside the store’s entrance. Richards got out of the front passenger seat and went into the store. Thompson remained in the driver’s seat.
About 40 seconds later, a Chevrolet Trax pulled into the lot and parked 15 yards behind the Chrysler. An unidentified man got out of a rear passenger seat and went into the store.
Shataurus Dozier exited the Chevrolet’s front passenger seat and Donnavin Dozier from the driver’s seat. They approached the store’s entrance as Richards left the business and walked toward the Chrysler.
Richards “quickly spun and fired a gun at Donnavin Dozier,” the complaints said. Donnavin Dozier ran around the side of the store and Shataurus Dozier fled into the building.
Richards continued shooting at the brothers as he ran. Surveillance video from a home showed Richards and Donnavin Dozier “encountered one another” behind the building, and Donnavin Dozier shot him, the complaints said.
Crash into Dairy Queen
Thompson opened the Chrysler’s driver’s door, briefly emerged and fired a handgun with an extended magazine. It was in the direction of the store where Shataurus Dozier was and toward the parking lot where Donnavin Dozier had run. Thompson got back into the Chrysler and started driving it out of the parking lot and toward Dairy Queen.
“Shataurus Dozier cracked open the store’s door and repeatedly fired into the Chrysler’s passenger side windows and doors as it drove from the parking lot,” the complaints said.
The door to the Chrysler opened and Thompson fell to the ground, landing on his back, and the vehicle continued across Earl Street with its door open. Thompson got up and chased the Chrysler, which continued into the Dairy Queen parking lot. The Chrysler’s open door struck a parked car before it crashed into the building.

Meanwhile, Shataurus Dozier ran from the store and toward the Chevrolet. Richards appeared from the side of the store and shot Shataurus Dozier.
The Dozier brothers hopped and limped to the side of the building, where the fifth, unidentified man met them. Each appeared to give firearms to him, and the man ran from the parking lot.
The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office charged Richards with two counts of attempted murder in the shootings of the Dozier brothers. Shataurus Dozier is charged with attempted murder in Thompson’s shooting.
The case remains under investigation and a charge had not been filed in Richards’ shooting as of Wednesday afternoon.
Donnavin Dozier and Thompson are charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited due an adjudication or conviction for a crime of violence.
Thompson is also charged with reckless discharge of a firearm at or toward an occupied building while in or having just exited a motor vehicle, and Donnavin Dozier with second-degree riot.
Attorneys weren’t listed for the four men in court files as of Wednesday afternoon.
