Patriots receive good news at final practice before Giants game
FOXBORO — Two key Patriots defenders were present for the beginning of practice Saturday.
Defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga (chest) and outside linebacker Harold Landry (knee) were both present for the portion of practice open to media. Rookie left guard Jared Wilson (ankle) and special-teams captain Brenden Schooler (ankle) were not on the field.
Head coach Mike Vrabel already ruled out Wilson for Monday night’s game against the Giants. It would be a surprise if Schooler suited up since he’s missed practice this week.
Expect Ben Brown to fill in for Wilson at left guard. Schooler’s roles on special teams will likely be filled by multiple players.
The Patriots are already down left tackle Will Campbell (knee) and defensive tackle Milton Williams (ankle), both of whom are on injured reserve. Vederian Lowe is expected to start at left tackle in Campbell’s place.
The Patriots have Christian Barmore, Cory Durden and rookies Joshua Farmer and Eric Gregory at defensive tackle on their 53-man roster. They might have to elevate Jeremiah Pharms Jr. from the practice squad, as well.
