España sorprende a Alemania en dobles y llega a la final de la Copa Davis ante Italia
BOLOGNA, Italia (AP) — España alcanzó la final de la Copa Davis gracias a la pareja de dobles Marcel Granollers y Pedro Martínez, quienes derrotaron el sábado 6-2, 6-3 a los alemanes Tim Pütz y Kevin Krawietz para ganar 2-1 la serie de semifinales.
Alexander Zverev mantuvo vivas las esperanzas de los alemanes con una victoria de 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) sobre Jaume Munar después de que Pablo Carreño Busta le diera la ventaja a los españoles contra Jan-Lennard Struff.
Carreño Busta salvó cinco puntos de set consecutivos en el desempate antes de vencer por 6-4, 7-6 (6) al veterano alemán.
Pero Granollers y Martínez sorprendieron a Pütz y Krawietz al propinarles solo su segunda derrota en la Copa Davis.
Esto llevó al equipo español, que estaba sin el lesionado número uno Carlos Alcaraz, de vuelta a la final por primera vez en seis años.
España enfrentará al campeón defensor Italia, que el viernes derrotó a Bélgica.
