Boston Weather: Sunny skies, strong winds forecasted in coming week
The Boston area is expected to kick off the next week with a period of sunny weather and chilly winds, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service.
“We’re heading into a overall very quiet week for southern New England,” said NWS meteorologist Bryce Williams. “We’re looking at dry weather for the majority of the week. Our next chance of a precipitation isn’t going to be until around Friday, when we have our next frontal system moving through. So between now and then, we’ll just have dry days, some of them are going to be pretty gusty, especially (Monday).”
Monday is forecast to see a high in the low 40s and mostly sunny skies, NWS shows. A strong west wind will likely blow throughout the day, with gusts up to 30 mph.
A gale warning for the waters off the coast of Massachusetts will continue through Monday night, NWS states, noting the hazardous conditions “could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.”
“While it’s not necessarily really impactful for most people on land, especially because we don’t have any leaves on the tree for the most part anymore,” Williams said. … “But for any mariners out there on the waters, it’s going to be continued hazardous conditions through at least Monday night.”
The seasonally cool temperatures are expected to continue through the middle of the week, forecasts show, with high in the mid-40s from Tuesday through Thursday. Lows are forecast to slip into the upper 20s Tuesday and Wednesday night and warm up to the high 30s on Thursday.
Skies will likely remain sunny Tuesday and Wednesday, according to NWS, turning mostly cloudy on Thursday.
“As we head into Tuesday, we’ll have some lingering wind gusts, but not as not as strong as (Sunday) or Monday,” said Williams. “And then Wednesday into Thursday, the wind will calm down.”

A chance of rain kicks in the early hours of Friday, NWS forecasts, and pick up in the afternoon.
“As we get towards Friday, ahead of that next system, we’ll likely see a warm up, maybe into the low to mid-50s Friday and Saturday.” said Williams. “And then that’ll be followed by some of those rain showers that I mentioned. But other than that, a pretty average, typical week for late November.”
