Gov. Maura Healey is the new Marie Antoinette, which is appropriate because last week she was vacationing in Gay Paree as the state was going down the tubes.

Let them eat cake! Sacre bleu.

After going MIA from the State House for the better part of week, the governor finally admitted Monday that she had fled the country to join her younger gal pal Joanna Lydgate in France.

Sounds rather pricey, but don’t worry about Maura and Joanna’s finances.

Maura makes $243,493 a year as governor. But that’s small potatoes compared to her 44-year-old Sapphic soulmate.

Joanna, a Yale graduate, runs a non-profit called the States United Democracy Center.

Last year, according to government documents, Mrs. Maura Healey paid herself $371,667 and got an additional $46,794 in “additional compensation. In other words, $418,461 a year.

Joanna divorced her husband to hook up with 54-year-old Maura. Good career move!

Total hack family take: $661,954 a year.

And what does the States United Democracy Center do for its 501 (c) (3) designation, you ask. Well, according to its prospectus, it is “dedicated to protecting free, fair and secure elections.”

It must be, because one of the other directors is none other than Norm Eisen, one of the most rabid anti-Trumpers there is, the Mr. Big of the lawfare movement to railroad the president and his supporters into prison. He also wants to uphold “voter integrity,” which means “voter fraud integrity.”

The other director is ex-NJ Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, another deranged anti-Trumper. Here’s a recent quote of hers about the president:

“I want to smack him across the face!”

Joanna used to work under Maura Healey when she was attorney general. As “chief deputy attorney general,” she never made more than $136,500.

Back then, Maura lived with Gabrielle Wolohojian, an elderly spinster judge. By all accounts, their split was somewhat less than amiable. But Maura managed to smooth things over with her older heart throb (she’s 64) by promoting her to the Supreme Judicial Court for $226,187 a year.

Another nationwide search.

Now Maura and Joanna live in their little love nest in Arlington, which despite its 24/7 virtue signaling, somehow never managed to land any of those diversity-celebrating foreign freeloader flophouses that Maura inflicted on less-affluent 130 locations across the Commonwealth, at a cost of at least $3 billion, so far, and counting.

The Healey hotels are a complete disaster. They’ve blown a giant hole in the state budget. As you’ve heard, criminals are being released by the courts because some public defenders are on strike because they’re stuck at $65 an hour.

Meanwhile, Maura signed a budget giving $5 million to defend illegal aliens from deportation. So that they can remain on lifelong welfare here in the Bay State.

Even Marie Antoinette never dreamed of such madness.

Now the Democrats on Beacon Hill are preparing a supplemental budget with another $42.9 million for “emergency housing.” Most of that will go to, you guessed it, illegal aliens, because they’re closing the flophouses, or so they say. Maura’s got an election coming up.

Meanwhile, those criminals being cut free by the courts because the attorneys are on strike will be out committing crimes against, well, you only get one guess.

But Maura doesn’t care. She never has when it comes to victims – at least if they’re American citizens.

On July 1, a 21-year-old student from Granby was murdered in cold blood in Washington DC as he walked to an all-night McDonald’s about a mile from the White House. He was spending the summer as a Congressional intern.

Eric M. Tarpinian-Jachym was randomly shot by local thugs opening fire on God-only-knows-who.

No statement from Maura Healey (or any other Democrat pols). No call to Eric’s parents. His brother is a state employee. He was born in Springfield. He was a graduate of Granby High. As a kid, he attended Bement School in Deerfield, the same school my brother went to.

In other words, Eric was a local boy. But he worked for a Republican Congressman, Rep. Ron Estes of Kansas, so I guess he doesn’t rate any commemoration from the Democrats of Massachusetts.

Rep. Estes paid him a tribute on the floor of the House last evening. Nobody from Massachusetts could be bothered, apparently.

But this is how Maura Healey operates. When she was attorney general, women came to the State House to complain about male perverts invading their private spaces and making them uncomfortable about using their rest rooms.

“Just hold it,” Maura said with a shrug.

Then there was the rape of a young disabled woman last year at her flophouse in Kingston, allegedly by an unvetted illegal alien from Haiti.

“It is unfortunate,” she said. “From time to time, things happen.”

Last November, she said on regime-controlled cable TV that her Mass. State Police would never be allowed to help carry out deportations of illegal alien thugs.

“No,” she said on MSNBC, “absolutely not.”

That was then. This is now: the feds busted a ring of Red Chinese nationals last week in Braintree. The Reds were allegedly running marijuana grow houses and smuggling in more illegals to go on welfare and commit crimes against US citizens.

Now Maura says she’s “grateful” to her federal “partners” for lugging all the undocumented Democrats.

What a hack. Go back to Gay Paree, Maura. And stay on the Left Bank where you belong.
