India June 2025: Hyundai Creta celebrates 10 years in market with win
The Hyundai Creta is the best-selling vehicle in India in June.
New vehicle wholesales in India drop -6.4% year-on-year in June to 317,757. There was no festivities this month as the monsoon and school seasons started. It was also the onset of ashada (inauspicious time) which impacted purchases in the Southern region. Brand leader Maruti Suzuki (-13.3%) is struggling this month, seeing its market share fall to 37.4% vs. 40.1% so far this year. Mahindra (+18.2%) brilliantly ranks #2 for the third month in a row with a very strong 14.9% share. Hyundai (-12.1%) and Tata (-14.8%) are beaten. Toyota (+2.7%) is strong at #5 ahead of Kia (-3.2%). MG (+25.5%), Skoda (+95.4%) and Citroen (+79.9%) are the only additional gainers in market just as Nissan (-37.7%) and Renault (-26.1%) skid down.
Looking at the models charts, the Hyundai Creta (-3.1%) manages a third win in the past four months despite falling year-on-year. The Creta nameplate has now been on the Indian market for exactly 10 years, having launched in June 2015. No less than five Maruti Suzukis follow. The Dzire (+15.4%) is down one spot on last month to #2 and is pushed by the new generation. The Vitara Brezza (+10.1%) is also in great shape at #3, but the next three all fall year-on-year: the Ertiga (-11%), Swift (-19.2%) and Wagon R (-6.2%) all decline. The Mahindra Scorpio (+3.5%) edges up to #7, with the Maruti Suzuki Fronx (+1.3%) also up in the remainder of the Top 10. #1 a year ago in June 2024, the Tata Punch (-42.7%) craters to #9.
