Iceland June 2025: Tesla Model Y #1, Polestar 2 up to #6

Polestar sales are up 1950% year-on-year in June.

New car sales in Iceland soar 25.9% year-on-year in June to 2,014 units, leading to a H1 volume up 23.4% to 7,838. Kia (+21.5%) trails the market sightly but easily remains the most popular carmaker in the country with 19.4% share. Toyota (+10.1%) is up one spot on last month to #2 but it’s Tesla (+135.9%) that delivers the best performance near the top, up four ranks on May to #3 with 9.1% share. Dacia (-1.1%) and most strikingly Hyundai (-51.3%) both struggle to round out the Top 5. Below, Polestar (+1950%), BYD (+1100%), Skoda (+236%) and KGM (+140%) all post surreal gains to close out the Top 10, Polestar scoring its first Top 10 finish since November 2023.

Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y reclaims the top spot for the 2nd time this year after last March, toppling the Kia Sportage. The Sportage remains #1 YTD for just two sales above the Model Y. The Dacia Duster is back to the #3 spot it also holds year-to-date, distancing the Kia Stonic up 24 ranks on May to #4 and the Toyota RAV4 up one to #5. The Polestar 2 shoots up to 6th place ahead of the KGM Korando, Suzuki Swift and Kia Ceed. The Hyundai Tucson closes out the Top 10. After two fantastic launch months, the Dacia Bigster is down to #30 in June but ranks #11 over H1.
