Police arrest 22-year-old in connection with shooting of minor in Medford

Medford Police have arrested a 22-year-old man with the non-fatal shooting of a juvenile victim on Saturday, the department reported.

Core Moore, 22, of Medford, has been charged with three counts of armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault on a family or household member, strangulation or suffocation, and more in connection with the incident on Light Guard Drive, police said.

At about 2 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to reports of shots fired in the area, the department said. At the scene, officers found a juvenile victim with a gunshot wound.

The minor was given aid at the scene, police said, and taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Medford Police stated they conducted an extensive search, locating multiple shell casings from a parking lot between Light Guard Drive and Rockwell Avenue.

Police brought in the Northern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team to take Moore into custody, the department said. The suspect was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Medford Police and the Middlesex DA’s Office remain actively investigating the incident. Police urged anyone with information to call the department at 781-391-6767, even if they wish to remain anonymous.

Moore is expected to be arraigned in Somerville District Court on Monday morning.
