Move over, fat bears: Denali puppies are new webcam darlings
Following on the success of the Brooks River bearcam, Denali National Park is livestreaming the antics of its five sled dog puppies.
The litter was born May 3 to Merlyn, one of the Denali Kennels sled dogs who work with mushing rangers on patrol and hauling teams. The pups have weather-themed names: Storm, Squall, Graupel, Fog and Dew.
Puppy Cam has a fixed view of the yard where the dogs eat, play and sleep. A sign informs viewers of feeding times — currently 11:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Alaska time, which is an hour behind Pacific time.
Alaska’s Katmai National Park has a variety of webcams documenting its wildlife, most famously the bears that catch salmon at Brooks Falls. That livestream’s popularity led to the annual Fat Bear Week, during which viewers can vote for their favorite.
