Israeli Consulate employees are on high alert after “anti-Jewish” flyers with staffers’ personal details were distributed in the city.

Boston Police are investigating after they responded to a Jewish establishment in Brighton this week for a report of a threat.

A piece of mail to the Jewish institution contained a letter with a “threatening anti-Jewish message,” reads a Boston Police report. BPD’s civil rights unit has been alerted.

These “deeply troubling” flyers come amid a rise of anti-Israel violence, including in D.C. where two Israeli embassy staffers were recently gunned down.

The Consulate General of Israel to New England is closely monitoring the incident with the flyers, which contain the names and personal details of Consulate employees.

“When someone comes to your doorstep, puts up posters with your photo and personal information, and seeks to mobilize others to create a hostile environment around you—it is bullying, it is an intimidation, and a call to hostile action,” said Consul General Benjamin Sharoni.

The Consulate immediately notified local law enforcement agencies about the incident.

“We have full confidence in the law enforcement authorities of the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,” the Consulate said in a statement. “We are certain that every effort will be made to ensure the safety and security of our team, our work, and other diplomatic missions operating in the City.

“Any attempt to intimidate or disrupt our work will be met with firm resolve and our unwavering commitment to continue serving and further strengthening the bilateral relationship between Israel and this region,” the Consulate added.

The ADL reported that the flyers with Israeli Consulate staffers’ photos urged members of the public to “tell them to leave Boston.”

“It is deeply troubling in the current climate, where anti-Israel incitement has directly led to the brutal murder of two Israeli embassy staff members in DC,” ADL New England posted. “The Consulate @IsraelinBoston would like to underscore their confidence in the response from law enforcement and their thanks for the ‘unparalleled hospitality’ of the Commonwealth and the City of Boston.”
