Trump Orders Investigation Into Biden’s Executive Actions, Autopen Allegations
By Joseph Lord
President Donald Trump has ordered his administration to investigate whether officials in President Joe Biden’s administration misled the American people about Biden’s mental acuity and illegally exercised presidential power.
A memorandum signed by Trump on June 4 “directs an investigation into whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President.”
In a fact sheet on the move, the White House cited long-standing public reporting across Biden’s single term in office, questioning his mental acuity and fitness for the job.
The statement said that the investigation would focus on whether there was unlawful misuse of an autopen, a device that creates a facsimile of a presidential signature.
“The combined nature of Biden’s documented cognitive decline and the repeated use of an autopen raises serious concerns about the legitimacy of his actions,” the fact sheet said.
The Department of Justice ruled in 2005 that providing a verbal directive to sign a document with an autopen was an acceptable alternative to physically signing the document.
