Alex Cora reacts to Red Sox’s recent trade for first baseman

“It’s first base depth. I think it’s a good move for the organization, having somebody that has experience in that position,” Cora said Friday.
Noda, 29, also has experience in the outfield. He’s played in 164 major league games, all with the Athletics in 2023 and 2024, batting .212 with a .713 OPS. Noda’s best season came in 2023, when he hit .229 with 16 home runs and 54 RBI with a .770 OPS.
With Triston Casas and Romy Gonzalez out injured, the Red Sox have been using Nick Sogard and Abraham Toro at first base. Rookie Kristian Campbell has also been training at first base.
