Fire alarm prompts evacuation at TD Garden after Celtics loss to Knicks
Post-game activities came to an abrupt, and alarming end at the TD Garden Wednesday following the Celtics loss to the Knicks in Game 2 of the NBA playoffs when the building was evacuated as fire alarms blared.
The TD Garden released a statement shortly afterward.
“Fire alarm went off tonight post game and arena was evacuated. No one was injured. The cause of the fire alarm is currently under investigation.”
Boston Fire crews responded to the scene and post-game interviews were cut short as a result of the evacuation.
Many fans and observers quipped that the alarm and evacuation was a fitting end to the first two home games for the Celtics in their match up with the Knicks, as the team collapsed twice, giving up 20-point 3rd quarter leads in both games.
The Celtics trail the Knicks 0-2 now in the series. The teams play next Saturday, in New York.
