Red Sox game postponed, doubleheader scheduled for Sunday
Saturday’s Red Sox game against the St. Louis Cardinals has been postponed due to inclement weather, the club announced.
The game has been rescheduled as the first game of a split doubleheader on Sunday, April 6, and will begin at 1:35 p.m. Tickets for Saturday’s game will be good for admission to Sunday’s early game, and the originally scheduled evening game remains on for 7:10 p.m.
Sunday’s rescheduled game will be televised on NESN while the regularly scheduled evening game will be broadcast by ESPN. Both games will be carried over the radio by WEEI 93.7 FM and in Spanish on WESX 1230 AM/WCCM 1490 AM.
The Red Sox will go into Sunday riding a three-game winning streak. The club won two out of three against the Baltimore Orioles this week and then beat the Cardinals in Friday’s home opener 13-9.
Sean Newcomb will start Game 1 of Sunday’s doubleheader, while Game 2’s starter remains to be determined. Newcomb grew up locally and starred at Middleborough High School, and Sunday will mark his first start at Fenway Park in a Red Sox uniform.
