Throwback Thursday: Shaking hands with President Carter
Accolades have poured in for former President Jimmy Carter after his death this weekend at 100, and Boston can get in on the praise. When this Oct. 10, 1980 photo was taken, Carter was reaching to shake hands with 3 ½ year-old Karima Ridgley of Boston who was attending the signing of the bills by the president at the White House. The president signed the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site Bill and the Boston African National Historic Site Bill. (AP Photo/Barry Thumma)
