Finland September 2024: Tesla Model Y and Skoda Enyaq top market off -38.3%

The Skoda Enyaq hits a new ranking record in Finland.

It’s another mediocre month for new car sales in Finland at a painful -38.3% year-on-year to just 4,554 units. This marks the 10th straight month of decline for the market and leads the year-to-date tally down -19.6% to 54,269. Toyota (-53%) manages to keep the brands leadership for just three sales over Skoda (-30.1%). Leader a year ago, Tesla (-62.1%) is down to a still very satisfying third place with a round 10% share vs. #8 and 4.8% year-to-date. Volkswagen (-7.7%) sports the best result inside the Top 6 and ranks #4 like it does YTD. Volvo (-18.4%) drops three spots on last month to #5 with 9% share vs. 11.1% so far this year. Hyundai (+25.3%) signs the only year-on-year gain in the Top 13, it is joined below by Polestar (+31.6%), Renault (+11.3%), BYD (+100%), Lexus (+31.3%) and Porsche (+81%).

Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (-76%) lands on the top spot for the first time this year despite losing three-quarters of its year-ago volume. The Skoda Enyaq (+31.5%) shoots up 17 ranks on August to a record 2nd place, beating its previous best of #3 reached in May and October 2023. Tesla places two models on the podium with the Model 3 (+319.5%) surging year-on-year to #3. The VW Tiguan (+78.9%) is up 9 spots to #4 and the ID.4 (+13.7%) up three to #8, both defying the negative market with strong year-on-year lifts. The launch honeymoon period is slowly fading away for the Volvo EX30 down four ranks on last month to #7 vs. #4 year-to-date.
