Saudi Arabia August 2024: Mazda6 (+156%), Hyundai Accent (+86.3%) highlight positive market

Saudi Arabia is one of the last markets where the Mazda6 is still successful.

67,448 new cars hit Saudi roads in August, a slim 4% year-on-year increase. The year-to-date tally is up 5.8% to 496,468 units. Toyota (+3.3%) trails the market slightly but holds onto an unassailable lead with 30.8% share vs. 28.9% so far this year. Hyundai (+7.9%) almost doubles the market growth at #2 with 15.8%, in line with its YTD level. Nissan (-13.3%) in contrast is in difficulty at #3 like Isuzu (-22.5%) at #5. Suzuki (+75.2%) and Ford (+28.4%) register sensational gains at #6 and #4 respectively whereas Kia (-34.5%) is in freefall and down four spots on July to #7. Mazda (+15.6%) returns to the ranking at #9. Notice also Renault (+1664.7%), Ram (+152.9%), Land Rover (+60.9%) and Great Wall (+55.1%).

Over in the models charts, the Toyota Yaris Sedan (-1.7%) keeps the lead with 5.9% share and like last month the Hyundai Accent (+86.3%) gets a big boost fro the new generation to 5.6% share vs. 4.9% year-to-date. The Toyota Hilux (-11.6%) declines but holds onto the third spot ahead of the Hyundai Elantra (-12.8%) and Toyota Camry (-13.4%) in equally bad shape. Note that when adding Camry HEV sales the Camry nameplate no longer outsells the Yaris Sedan. The Mazda 6 (+156%), Ford Territory (+51.3%), Toyota RAV4 (+23%) and Suzuki Swift Dzire (+14%) all shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
