Man shot dead at Jamaica Plain housing project late last night
Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a shooting last night at the Mildred Hailey Housing project on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain.
BPD Deputy Superintendent Paul McLaughlin said the shooting first came in at 9:22 p.m. Monday with police patrolling the area reporting “multiple gunshots” and a ShotSpotter activation. Police quickly found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound who died at the hospital.
“We’re dealing with a very large and active crime scene that spreads out through most of the development and we’ve recovered multiple weapons,” McLaughlin said on audio from the scene. He added one individual is under arrest after being found carrying a firearm and on outstanding warrants.
But, he added, police are “looking for anyone who can help us move forward with this case.”
NBC10 reported the crime scene stretched blocks away to Heath Street, where officers also roped off a crime scene. They said multiple weapons were found on scene.
There is no update so far this morning.
