EU lawsuits

Shareholders of Apple stock now owe Europe billions in back taxes. Apple took advantage of Ireland’s low tax rate of 12.5%.  Is it wrong to shop around the globe and secure a lower tax rate for your company?  Should a homeowner be penalized to shop for a lower mortgage rate and remortgage at a lower rate?  No, it’s free-market capitalism.  But, the EU wants American dollars to pay for its socialist policies of big government at the expense of the private sector.  The Biden administration is doing nothing to thwart these sham lawsuits.  America rebuilt Europe with the Marshall Plan after WWII, now America is strengthening European Socialism with the Biden plan.

Harris answers

Over the last three and half years America’s economy stank, border crossings were sky high and crime throughout the US increased. I sure would appreciate from Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Devi Harris her plans on turning these programs on a positive note. All I hear from Harris is how Trump is a threat to democracy but what does that have to do with answering questions that American citizens want to know?

Farewell Tupperware

So no more Tupperware, another familiar childhood memory is fading. There are a few pieces in the cupboard, not used as often now with reliable refrigeration and the almost instant availability of most foods.

It has gone the way of Blockbuster videos and Borders book stores, once very successful but staying the same when the world moved on.

The other, seemingly unmentioned, reason for its demise was its quality. A well made product that is still usable and therefore doesn’t need to replaced every few years. Very few other products will last the distance as planned obsolescence becomes so common.

Vale Tupperware and your parties.

Medicare cuts

Of course Medicare is getting cut (“Medicare home health care cuts puts Mass seniors at risk,” 9/20/24). This is not a surprising story in a state (and country) that does not care about senior citizens.

The answer to how that could happen is very simple, senior citizens do not pay taxes (or as much as we do) and in fact, the government pays out money to senior citizens.
