Saturday’s high school scores and highlights

ROUNDUP

The cream certainly rose to the top at Saturday’s Frank Kelley Invitational.

Cambridge standout Aoife Shovlin won the 5,000-meter championship race in a time of 17:54.49, nearly 12 seconds better than runner-up Cameron Davis of Oxford. Shovlin’s teammate, Sophia Juanes Soto took third which helped the Falcons take home the team title.

In the boys 5,000-meters, Falmouth’s Silas Gartner was the champion with a winning time of 15:30.72. Concord-Carlisle won the team title with 100 points, 29 points ahead of Cambridge, which took a second.

In other highlights on the girls side, Central Catholic had a pair of winners as Kyla Breslin won the 3,000-meter freshmen race on the large school side, while teammate Lila Christy was the junior champion at the same distance.

In the 3,000-meter senior event, Isabella Galusha led a Weymouth onslaught as she took first in a time of 10:59.82. She was one of four Wildcats to place in the top six others being Kate Carnes (third), Gracie Richard (fourth) and Emma Daley (sixth) as they coasted to the team title.

On the boys side, St. John’s Prep had a pair of winners as Garrett Dodge won the 3,000-meter large school freshman race in a time of 10:48.92, while Cormac Barry was the sophomore champion (10:19.23).

Bradon Spiess, representing the City of Boston, won the 3,000-meter small school sophomore race in a time of 9:45.79, besting Weston’s Aarav Mehta (9:55.03) and East Bridgewater’s Ben Levesque (9:56.10). Peabody took 1-2 in the 3,000-meter large school senior event as Declan Smith was first (9:33) and teammate Brian Stevens placed second (10:04.78).

Weymouth had a clean sweep of the top three in the 3,000-meter large school junior race as they easily coasted to the team title. Patrick Geagan was first (9:54.88), followed by Aidan McIntyre (10:02.51) and Seamus Egan (10:05.69)

GIRLS SOCCER

Amanda Schneider, Violet Malinowski and Maggie Blosser scored as Masconomet handled Bishop Feehan 3-0 in a nonleague contest. … Schuyler Kilmon and Sazie Wrentmore scored as Wayland defeated Nashoba 2-0 in a nonleague contest.

BOYS SOCCER

Vincent McGann scored a hat trick as Chelmsford dropped Westford Academy, 3-2, in nonleague action. … Gilmer Herrera scored twice with an assist as Methuen blanked Malden 4-0.

Khaio Pellegrini scored the game’s only goal on a penalty kick as Quincy edged North Quincy 1-0 in the Patriot League giving Tom Scott his first varsity head coaching win.

FOOTBALL

In a nonleague game, Ben Iglesias rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns while Billy Vincent added a pair of rushing touchdowns and tossed another to lift North Andover (2-0) to a 40-12 victory over Beverly. … Lexington came back from a 13-0 halftime deficit and scored 28 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Acton-Boxboro 28-13 as Amari Mow scored twice.

Matt Carleton ran for three scores as Concord-Carlisle (2-0) defeated Quincy, 29-12.

In the Independent School League, Frankie Forrest ran for 175 yards and two touchdowns as Middlesex (1-0) defeated Brooks, 21-13. … Hugo Djeumeni scored all six touchdowns and finished with 292 yards on 27 carries as Tabor (1-0) rolled to a 42-0 win over St, Mark’s. … Aiden Bly threw a pair of TD passes to Krystian Pothel as Governor’s Academy (1-0) defeated Thayer Academy, 30-18.

Carl Monks threw a TD pass to Robby Fiore, while Jalen Morris rushed for more than 100 yards as Rivers (1-0) edged Noble and Greenough, 6-0. … Qur’an McNeill threw a pair of touchdown passes to Zahir Mitchell and also ran for a score as Milton Academy (1-0) defeated Roxbury Latin, 29-2.

Jayden Buckley ripped off a game-winning 42-yard TD run in the fourth quarter and Ahjani Graham came up with a big play in the final two minutes to preserve English/New Mission’s 14-6 win over Tech Boston in the Boston City League.

Tor Maas ran for four touchdowns and added a TD pass as Marshfield (2-1) handled Bridgewater-Raynham 38-28 in a nonleague contest. … Zach Hurd ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns, while throwing for 103 yards as Manchester-Essex (2-0) defeated Rockland, 38-18.
