Unrest Shooting

In August 2020, Rittenhouse, when he was 17, traveled from Antioch, Illinois to Kenosha, Wisconsin to help promote the local businesses, after protests for the shooting of Jacob Blake were addressed by a police officer.

Criminal Trial

In November 2021 in the criminal trial in Kenosha, the prosecutors debated that he was seen as an active shooter, and provoked the other participants. However, the defense lawyers argued that he acted in self-defense, and that force was necessary to prevent imminent death.

A jury weighed two counts of homicide and an economist poll found that two-thirds of Republicans wanted him to be acquitted while three-quarters should be convicted.
