Throwback Thursday: Guarding Boston Harbor after 9/11
Tensions — and fears — ran high in the days following the Sept. 11 terror attacks on America. Those who safeguard our country were on alert — on land, air and sea. When this photo was taken on Sept. 19, 2001, National Security United States Coast Guard sailors from Port Security Unit 307 passed by the USS Constitution as they patroled Boston Harbor. The unit comprised of 120 sailors, and based in St. Petersburg, Fla., began patrolling the harbor Sept. 14 in the wake of the attacks on New York and Washington. (AP Photo/Steven Senne)
