New tiger cubs, sea lions to make first public appearance at Minnesota Zoo
Two Amur tiger cubs and two adult sea lions will make their debut public appearances Thursday in their new habitats at the Minnesota Zoo.
The tiger cubs will be available for viewing at 9 a.m. in their public-facing Tiger Lair habitat and the sea lions will be placed in Discovery Bay, according to the Minnesota Zoo.
The tiger cubs, Andrei and Amaliya, were born on May 23 and have been bonding with their mother, Dari, in a behind-the-scenes habitat, according to the Minnesota Zoo. They are the first cubs to be fathered by Luka, another tiger at the zoo.
Andrei and Amaliya are not the only new tiger cubs in the Twin Cities. Two cubs were born in late August at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory but will not be on public display for a few months while they bond with their mother and grow stronger.
On June 5, 2024, the Minnesota Zoo announced the addition of two California sea lions, Hudson and Flynn, to the Discovery Bay exhibit at the Apple Valley zoo. (Courtesy of the Minnesota Zoo)
Sea lions Clyde and Jojo are native to California and will be joining Hudson and Flynn, two sea lion pups who joined the Minnesota Zoo in June. Hudson and Flynn were the first two California sea lions to come to the zoo.
