Red Sox lineups: Triston Casas to sit against Mets on Tuesday

Triston Casas is not in the Red Sox lineup for Tuesday’s second game against the New York Mets at Citi Field, which includes numerous other changes as manager Alex Cora looks to shake things up.

Jarren Duran, who has led off nearly every game for the Red Sox this season, will instead bat second while Rob Refsnyder takes the lead. The change will help the Red Sox stack the top of their lineup with right-handers, with Tyler O’Neill set to bat third ahead of Rafael Devers in the clean-up spot.

Romy Gonzalez, also a right-handed hitter, will start at first base in place of Casas, and Danny Jansen, Ceddanne Rafaela and switch-hitter Nick Sogard will round out the bottom of the lineup. Masataka Yoshida will get the start at designated hitter.

The righty-heavy lineup will theoretically help the Red Sox against Mets starter David Peterson, a left-hander who boasts an 8-1 record and 2.83 ERA on the season but who has been much tougher against left-handed hitters than righties. Boston will also send Kutter Crawford (8-12, 4.12) to the mound as the Red Sox look to avoid their fifth loss in six games.
