MN State Fair delays Tuesday opening in storm aftermath
Don’t head to the Minnesota State Fair quite yet.
“Due to the morning storm, the fairgrounds is delaying the opening (normally at 7 a.m.) in order to assess damage and debris cleanup,” the Fair announced early Tuesday.
The Twin Cities was hit by a round of severe weather starting on Monday evening and continuing overnight into Tuesday.
While showers and thunderstorms continue on Tuesday morning, the Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service reports that more severe weather is not expected.
The storms descended soon after the 2024 Minnesota State Fair smashed attendance records during a busy start to the Great Minnesota Get-Together, which started on Thursday and runs through Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 2.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
