United Arab Emirates July 2024: Toyota Hilux takes the lead, market up 5.2%
The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in the UAE in July.
The UAE new car market lifts 5.2% year-on-year in July to 22,498 sales, leading to a year-to-date tally up 9.9% to 168,169. Once again Toyota (-4%) can’t benefit from the market growth but still posts a very strong 28.1% share vs. 25.6% so far this year. Strikingly the next seven manufacturers all beat the market. Ford (+66.6%) is the most dynamic followed by Land Rover (+38.5%), MG (+24.1%), Nissan (+12.7%), Hyundai (+9.5%), Kia (+9%) and Mitsubishi (+7%). Geely (+55.8%) rounds out the Top 10 in spectacular fashion while Tesla ranks #11 with 2.7% share, the same result as YTD.
Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+36.1%) easily snaps the lead with 6.4% share vs. 4.6% for the Nissan Sunny (+15%). The Sunny however firmly retains the YTD top spot. The Nissan Patrol (-4.1%) is knocked down to #3 ahead of the Toyota Land Cruiser (+8%) and Land Rover Defender (+158.8%). The Toyota Fortuner (+91%) impresses at #7 just as the Tesla Model 3 cracks the Top 10 at #10.
