Minnesota United striker Tani Oluwaseyi expected out one month
Minnesota United’s injury woes struck again last week, but its lighter schedule might limit the damage.
Loons leading scorer Tani Oluwaseyi injured his hamstring in the 1-0 win over Necaxa in the Leagues Cup on July 30 and is expected to be out 3-5 weeks, head coach Eric Ramsay said Tuesday.
But after being bounced out of the North American tournament on Sunday, MNUFC doesn’t have a match until MLS play resumes against the Seattle Sounders on Aug. 24.
“It’s as good a situation as it could be,” Ramsay said. “It’s going to be three weeks (out) optimistically and five weeks pessimistically, I would say.”
Oluwaseyi, who has eight goals in 804 minutes this season, was upset when the injury occurred, slamming his hand on the grass at Allianz Field and knocking over water bottles on his way to the bench.
“He’s high strung around those injuries and very conscious of them, so he reacted as though it was perhaps worse than it was,” Ramsay said. “He feared the worst, and fortunately the scans have shown different.”
