Patriots signing former Bills fullback to three-year deal in free agency

Gilliam has agreed to a three-year, $12 million contract with $6 million fully guaranteed.

Gilliam, 28, joins Jack Westover and Brock Lampe on the Patriots’ fullback depth chart. The Patriots could elect to move Westover back over to tight end, where he started his NFL career.
The Bills signed Gilliam as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo in 2020. He’s spent all six of his NFL seasons with the Bills, racking up 16 catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns and rushing eight times for 14 yards.
Gilliam has spent the majority of his 885 offensive snaps as a lead blocker. He played 21% of the Bills’ offensive snaps last season, helping Buffalo finish first in the NFL in rushing.
This is the Patriots’ second move of the NFL’s open tampering period. They agreed to terms with edge defender Dre’Mont Jones earlier on Monday.
